Inside Sales Trainee

Location: Basildon (office based)
Status: Open

The Inside Sales Trainee will be responsible for answering calls and being the first point of contact for our clients seeking FS Mackenzie Ltd Freight Services. Working within a team and supported by the Inside Sales Supervisor, you will learn all aspects of raising and managing quotations whilst gaining knowledge of tariffs and applicable charges. The Inside Sales Trainee will also be tasked with learning to develop new business from existing clients, converting new accounts, and looking to generate sales leads. This is a trainee role with internal training expected to be completed over approx. 9 months, and leading to become an Inside Sales Executive.

Key Learning Activities / Modules:

- Learn to manage quotations from existing and potential new clients.
- Learn how to seek out a variety of new business opportunities from known current in house leads and self generated leads.
- To learn and be able to demonstrate commercial acumen in order to seek and secure sales opportunities.
- To gain an understanding Implement sales strategies to develop short term and long term business accounts.
- To understand and maintain daily admin, ensuring company data is up to date and correct in company CRM and quotation register.
- To understand our teams and work collaboratively across the business to maximise sales opportunities.
- Learn how to build relationships with suppliers to ensure sourcing competitive rates and services to meet the client/prospects needs.
- Deliver on client satisfaction and service excellence at all times.
- To learn and understand how to assess credit worthiness and credibility of customers to ensure they are ‘fit’ to do business with.
- Work as an ambassador for the organisation within the local/regional community promoting its services and values at all times.

Essential Experience and Knowledge:

As this is a trainee role, no previous knowledge or experience is required. However candidates must be able to demonstrate:

- a good understanding of Microsoft Word/ Excel/ Outlook.
- educated to min GCSE or equivalent.
- able to prioritise and work under pressure to meet targets.
- able to work in a team as well as in silo.
- a good communicator and ability to develop strong credible relationships.
- Have strong a pro-active, can-do attitude.


Inside Sales Executive

Location: Basildon (office based)
Status: Open

The sales executive will be responsible for quoting and promoting sea freight services both import and export for FS Mackenzie Ltd. Working together with the Inside sales supervisor and supported by commercial director the Inside Sales Junior will be tasked with managing a range of quotations for the branch from existing house accounts, overseas partners, new business opportunities and supporting external sales managers. Ensuring quotes are complete in good time, followed up in good time, maximising profitability via sourcing rates from several suppliers.

Key Activities / Accountabilities:

- Work collaboratively and in partnership with Branch Operations and Customer Service teams to help win retain and develop new and existing business.
- Work with suppliers to ensure sourcing competitive rates and services to meet the client/prospects needs
- Deliver on client satisfaction and service excellence.
- Ensure credit worthiness and credibility of customers to ensure they are ‘fit’ to do business with.
- Work as an ambassador for the organisation within the local/regional community promoting its’ services and values at all times.
- Work with management teams to identify and interpret trends and opportunities to constantly deliver and deliver success.

Essential Experience and Knowledge:

- Sound experience of sales within freight forwarding/shipping industry.

- Sound experience of generating new business opportunities and relationship management.
- Demonstrable experience of implementing sales strategies to meet short term and long term opportunities.
- Demonstrable success in achieving and exceeding new business sales targets.
- Experience of reporting processes.
- Experience of working collaboratively across the organisation to help deliver on success.
- Experience of implementing new ideas and solutions to drive results of a sales function.
- Demonstrable commercial awareness that has had a significant impact on the business.
- Sound experience of negotiating skills and firm understanding of the sales cycle.
